The Canadian National Railway Company (CN) is a Canadian Class I railway that serves Canada and the Midwestern and Southern United States. CN is the largest railway in Canada, in terms of both revenue and the physical size of its rail network, and is currently Canada’s only transcontinental railway company, spanning Canada from the Atlantic coast in Nova Scotia to the Pacific coast in British Columbia.
CN Rail commissioned Acryl design Ltd. to design & manufacture a sensor controlled machine guard protecting their employees from moving rails along a 50′ inspection line located at the CN Work Equipment location in Winnipeg. Acryl Design Ltd. worked hand in hand with CN’s guard manufacturing supplying all the necessary labels.
To protect CN employees, the machine automatically shuts off when the guards are opened. When the guards are closed there is a short delay for the machine to start up again.
